MSU President Samuel L. Stanley Jr. sent an email out to students and faculty Tuesday morning with an updated Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, or DEI, framework of recommendations to guide plans and decisions made by the president's office.

The framework works to create and maintain a diverse and inclusive community on campus. It is 77 pages that includes a message from President Stanley, members of the steering committee, MSU's background in DEI and its strategic goals, and more.

According to the email, Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer Jabbar R. Bennett and Stanley will discuss the framework this month in a recorded webcast. Joining them will be the co-chairs of the DEI steering committee: director of Migrant Student Services Luis Alonzo Garcia and senior associate dean for diversity and inclusion Wanda D. Lipscomb, who is an associate professor of Psychiatry in the College of Human Medicine.

"Once you (students and faculty) have reviewed the documents, I invite you to submit requests by Aug. 13 for us to consider in our conversation," Stanley said in the email. "The webcast will be posted to the DEI training webpage later this month."

"Spartans, our DEI efforts must be embedded into all we do, and this framework and webcast will provide useful guidance," Stanley said in the email. "Through these and MSU's other resources, I encourage you to find ways to engage with this top university priority."
