With just over a month until the start of the college hockey season, Michigan State and the Big Ten have released their 2021-22 men's hockey schedules.

The Spartans will get their first action on the ice in an exhibition game against the under-18 U.S. National Team Development Program Oct. 2 in Plymouth, Michigan.

Michigan State will welcome fans back into Munn Ice Arena for the first time in over a year on Friday, Oct. 8 against Air Force. Other non-conference opponents include Miami (Ohio), UMASS Lowell, Ferris State, and Western Michigan and Michigan Tech as part of the Great Lakes Invitational in East Lansing in late December.

MSU opens Big Ten play Oct. 29 on the road at Ohio State and then hosts its first Big Ten home series against the defending regular-season champions with Wisconsin coming into town Nov. 19. Michigan and Michigan State will face each other four times (Nov. 5-6 & Feb. 11-12) with locations and times yet to be announced.

Michigan State closes the regular season with four consecutive home games against Notre Dame on Feb. 18-19 and Penn State on Feb. 25-26. The Big Ten Tournament will open play with the best-of-three quarterfinals March 4-6 with the rest of the tournament played the following two weekends.

Arizona State, who was part of the Big Ten schedule last season playing all of their games on the road, will not face the Spartans in 2021-22.

MSU finished the conference-only 2020 season with a 7-18-2 record and last place finish in the Big Ten.
