A part of Amcor's investment is a $10 million donation that will primarily go towards building upgrades and sustainability efforts.

The number one packaging school in the country just got greater.

On Aug. 3, Amcor partnered with MSU by investing 10 million to advance the packaging program for future generations. Amcor is a packaging company headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland that works with numerous companies to improve their supply chain and assist workers as well.

The $10 million donation is the largest investment the university's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, or CANR, had ever received, according to the press release.

“We are grateful to Amcor for its recognition of MSU’s leadership in packaging education and our commitment to sustainable innovations," President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., said in the press release. "Together, we will ensure that the industry remains well equipped with global talent and leadership to meet the challenges of providing packaging that keeps food and medicines safe while furthering the circular economy."

According to the release, the donation is part of Amcor's "commitment to supporting the next generation of responsible packaging talent." The funding will be used to upgrade the facility and offer more modern technology and devices.

The release also said the partnership will allow in the creation of an Endowed Chair of Packaging Sustainability role, allowing for more research and innovation in the area.

The donation will allow the program to grow for future Spartans.

"Amcor has a reputation for quality, excellence and innovation, and has best-in-class research capability with sustainability experts around the globe," Matt Daum, director of the School of Packaging said. "With Amcor, we are excited to create a partnership that leverages and enhances the School of Packaging‘s global reach and expertise in packaging sustainability research. Our alumni can feel confident we are poised to continue providing the packaging community with thought leadership and best-in-class packaging education.”
