"In my conversation with Kim, it was clear that she still holds a great love and passion for The State News and wants to help push us to be even better. I am beyond excited to work with her this year and am so happy to welcome her back to the S’News," said Karly Graham, 2021-22 editor-in-chief.

Kim started her journalism career as a reporter at Florida Today, The Sun-Sentinel, and The Connecticut Post. At the Post, she won several first-place states and New England SPJ and AP awards for news and feature writing.

Kim served as a writing coach for Thomson Newspapers and as the executive editor of The Times-Recorder in Zanesville, Ohio. At Zanesville, her editorial writing earned her state awards. A community school safety program she spearheaded in Zanesville won a national Make a Difference Award.

Kim is leaving her position at Cox Media Group, where she spent close to 22 years serving as a copy editor, paginator, news editor, freelance team leader, and reporter. Then she moved to the digital department seven years ago. She managed several news sites, wrote social posts, and created push alerts and promotions for the Cox CBS affiliate and three daily newspapers. The Dayton Daily News and WHIO websites are consistently named the best daily newspaper and TV station news sites in Ohio. 

General Manager Chris Richert said, “Kim brings over two decades of traditional, digital, and new media journalism experience, and I am confident it will benefit our student and professional staff as we continually evolve for the future of The State News.”
