The NCAA announced via Twitter on Thursday afternoon that all sports would be returning to their normal recruiting calendar as early as June 1.

"We are delighted to announce that as of June 1, all sports will return to their normal recruiting calendars," M. Grace Calhoun, chair of the Division I council and athletic director at the University of Pennsylvania, said "We want to thank all prospective student-athletes, their families, coaches and current student-athletes for their patience as we determined the best way to move forward safely with recruiting in Division I."

The council noted schools in different areas of the country could be limited based on regulations set by campus, city and state requirements but that schools are no longer restricted by the created dead period that had been enacted since March 13, 2020.

What does this mean for MSU football? Here's what Head Coach Mel Tucker said about spring play:

"We didn't have any of this last year, around this time. I'm hoping that we're going to start to have some recruits on campus, but we haven't had that. Once we get these guys on campus, we'll be able to close the, because they're going to like it. If we get recruits on campus, they can see the place, see the campus. Everything we've been showing them has been videos and graphics. There's been Zoom calls and FaceTime. They haven't seen us face-to-face. They haven't been on campus and seen the facilities. They haven't been here. But, once they get here, once they walk in the building, they're going to feel the vibe. They're going to know."

Football recruiting will have separate waivers and allowances as the council is permitting on-campus evaluations during unofficial visits during the days football camps, and clinics are allowed in June and July 2021.
