According to the Ingham County Prosecutor's office and public records from the 54B District Court in East Lansing, MSU wide receiver and Western Michigan transfer Jayden Reed was arraigned on operating while intoxicated (OWI) charges on the morning of Feb. 10.
The offense, court documents show, occurred on July 18, 2020. MSU Police and Public Safety issued the citation.
Reed's attorney David Meyers filed a not-guilty plea the court documents show, on Wednesday morning during the arraignment. Reed's next appearance in court is scheduled for Feb. 24. The hearing on the morning of Feb. 24 is a pre-trial hearing and will be held at 10:15 a.m., according to court documents, and will be held before Judge Andrea Larkin.
A personal bond was set at $500.
"Michigan State Athletics was aware of the situation involving Jayden Reed last July and the matter was addressed internally by the football program prior to the start of the 2020 season," an MSU athletics spokesperson said in a statement.
A redshirt-sophomore, Reed played in all seven of MSU football's contest this year after sitting out the 2019-2020 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Reed finished the season with 767 all-purpose yards in the return and receiving game. He had 407 receiving yards, 33 catches and three touchdown receptions across seven games.
As one of the bright spots and at 6-foot, 185 pounds, Reed opened his first game at MSU with 128 receiving yards and two touchdown grabs in the season-opening loss to Rutgers at Spartan Stadium.

Reed transferred from Western Michigan University in May 2019 and finished his career at WMU 56 receptions, 797 yards and eight touchdowns as a freshman.
