MSUPD investigating train crash near MSU campus

A train crash involving a pedestrian near Michigan State's campus occurred Friday afternoon, according to a statement from Michigan State University Police Department (MSUPD).

The incident was at the Amtrak Station, located at 1240 S. Harrison Road. University police and East Lansing Fire Department paramedics responded and attempted life-saving measures, the statement said.

The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

MSUPD officers and detectives will remain on the scene to conduct an investigation and determine the cause of the incident.

Traffic remains backed up and the train will remain in place until the investigation concludes, according to MSUPD Captain Chris Rozman.
