2nd chief diversity officer finalist to hold virtual forum Tuesday

The second finalist for Michigan State University's vice president and chief diversity officer position — DeBrenna LaFa Agbenyiga — will be virtually visiting campus Monday and Tuesday.

Each finalist has a full day of meetings to interact with administrators, faculty, staff and students. Each finalist will also host an open forum on Zoom, where they will share their personal background and interest in this position and discuss their vision for the CDO role, followed by a moderated Q&A session.

Agbenyiga's open forum will at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 1. Preregistration is required for the forum. Sign-ups are available here.

Agbenyiga is currently a higher education consultant at Agbenyiga Global Education where she provides guidance to individuals, groups and higher education institutions.

Prior, she was provost and vice president for academic affairs at Bowie State University, as well as vice provost and dean of The Graduate School at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

She also comes from an MSU background, serving as the assistant dean and assistant to the dean for diversity and multicultural programs of the College of Social Science.

Agbenyiga has a B.S in criminal justice and graduate certificate from the University of Southern California-Columbia and a Master of Social Work, MBA in strategic management, and Ph.D. in social science from MSU.

The other three finalists will be visiting through Sept. 9.
