Vice President and Associate Provost Denise Maybank sent an email to students on behalf of Student Affairs and Services to communicate financial resources available due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to college-specific emergency funds, the university has opened its Support our Spartans, or SOS, COVID-19 Fund, to support students who have lost their jobs or are facing financial struggles.

With funds from the Associated Students of Michigan State University, or ASMSU, and MSU Residential Halls Association, or RHA, there is a total of $335,000 available.

More than 7,400 applications were received, and they have been reviewing applications since April 23. Students should hear back within five days of their application being reviewed.

Students can also apply for assistance through MSU's CARES4Students Grant which has $14.9 millon available to students through the Office of Financial Aid. The application will be of the Office of Financial Aid's website, but it has not been posted yet. The email suggests checking in regularly.

Tuition will remain at its current rate during the 2020-21 school year, if the freeze is formally approved by the Board of Trustees at their next meeting.
