Former Michigan State University coach Kathie Klages will stand trial before a jury in Veterans Memorial Courthouse. Klages is scheduled to appear before Judge Joyce Draganchuk every day this week.

Klages is charged with two counts of lying to a peace officer during the investigation into MSU's handling of the abuses of ex-MSU doctor Larry Nassar. These charges stem from her denying knowledge of Nassar's abuse prior to the 2016 investigation.

In September 2018, Larissa Boyce and an unnamed witness testified that Klages discouraged them from reporting Nassar's sexual abuse in 1997. They were teenage aspiring gymnasts at the time.

Ingham County Circuit Court held a hearing on Feb. 5 in which Draganchuk decided the defense's expert witness, Elizabeth Loftus, was not necessary to explain matters of memory, according to a statement from the Attorney General's Office. The defense filed a motion to appeal this decision, but it was denied.

Klages is set to appear before Draganchuk at 8:30 a.m. today.
