Man charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with death of MSU student

A Chicago man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in regards to the death of Michigan State student Lyniah Bell, according to a press release from the Chicago Police Department.

Bell, 19, was shot and killed while home in Chicago's Chatham Neighborhood on Dec. 27.

Bell, a journalism student at MSU, was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene.

Lafayette Hodges, 18, turned himself in to Chicago's 11th District station approximately six hours after the incident in which Bell was shot and killed, according to the release.

Hodges was taken into custody and charged with the felony count of involuntary manslaughter. No further information is available at this time, according to the release.
