ASMSU to host First Generation Appreciation Week this week

During National First Generation Week — from Nov. 4 to Nov. 8 — the Associated Students of Michigan State University, or ASMSU, will host a First Generation Appreciation Week to assist and celebrate MSU’s first generation college students in their unique college experience.

The week will include four different workshops specialized to the first generation college student experience.

Monday

Students will be invited to the ASMSU Conference Room in the Student Services Building to participate in a personal branding workshop called “How to Market Yourself as a First Generation Student Resume and Interview Workshop."

This workshop is from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Tuesday

A roundtable discussion about the first generation college student experience and other topics relating to first generation college students will be held at the ASMSU Conference Room from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Wednesday

A panel of first generation college students will discuss how to make the first generation experience better” from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in South Kedzie Hall, room S105.

Friday

To celebrate National First Generation Day, students will be able to receive first generation apparel at The Rock from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
