MSU Fall Convocation featuring Matthew Desmond
The Michigan State Fall Convocation kicks off Welcome Week at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26 in the Breslin Student Services Center.
The author of “Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City,” Mathew Desmond, addressed the MSU community as part of the One Book, One Community initiative.
U-Fest at the MSU Union is 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26.
This event is free for students and other members of the MSU community. According to the University Activities Board website, there will be free food and drink samples. Activities include free inflatables, henna, photo booth, live music and giveaways.
Sparticipation
Sparticipation is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at the Intersection of Shaw Lane and Harrison Road.
If you want to get involved in a group, Sparticipation will have many student organizations, local sponsors and university departments at tables to show off what they're about.
Greek Fall Welcome is 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29 at the Rock on Farm Lane.
You can interact with some of MSU’s largest student organizations, learn more about Greek life and get free food and giveaways.
Welcome Black Week
Welcome Black Week will be Sept. 3 through 7.
The Neighborhood Student Success Collaborative will host a week full of events. This year’s theme is MSU Black Renaissance: Cultural, Intellectual and Social.
The week will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 3 with a game night at the Hubbard Dining Hall from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and will end on Saturday, Sept. 7 with a tailgate.
Spartan Remix
The annual Spartan Remix will be Thursday, Sept. 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at People’s Park — the courtyard between the International Center, Wells Hall and Erickson Hall.
This will be the Office of Cultural and Academic Transitions' 12th year hosting the event, which is a cultural festival celebrating art, music and culture. There will be performances, food, cultural organizations and more.

Latinx Annual Welcome Celebration
The Latinx Annual Welcome Celebration will be Friday, Sept. 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kresge Amphitheater.
This event provides incoming and current Hispanic/Latinx students with an opportunity to experience the Latinx atmosphere at MSU by learning about campus involvement and resources to achieve success. This event helps new and current MSU students network with other students, faculty and staff.
