The Fenner Nature Center will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a new pavilion that the center says will quadruple its current capacity at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9.

The Susan and Jack Davis Nature Pavilion will add more than 1,600 square feet of space and will be available for use through all four seasons.

The groundbreaking ceremony will feature speeches from Lansing Mayor Andy Schor, namesake donor Susan Davis and Michigan Economic Development Corporation representative Sarah Latta Rainero.

The Fenner Nature Center is run by a non-profit organization, the Fenner Conservancy, which recently received a $31,800 grant to go toward the pavilion's construction.

The center is home to a variety of wildlife on a 134-acre property with more than four miles of trails.
