Michigan State University Police Assistant Chief Valerie O’Brien who heads the Field Services Bureau was placed on administrative leave April 3, Lansing State Journal reported. She is barred from the department while on the paid leave.
O'Brien as a detective was involved in a 2014 Title IX investigation into Larry Nassar's sexual abuse, according to Lansing State Journal. The investigation cleared him of survivor Amanda Thomashow's report that he sexually assaulted her.
Detective JJ Bradoc who is married to O'Brien has been on leave since Feb. 1, university spokeswoman Emily Guerrant said to Lansing State Journal.
Guerrant did not respond to comment to Lansing State Journal about why the two officers went on leave.
MSUPD declined to comment to The State News on the leaves of absence.
