Eli Broad College of Business admissions requirements to change
At the start of Michigan State's fall 2019 semester, the Eli Broad College of Business will alter its admission requirements.
The College requires completion of 28 credits for business-preference students, with a new requirement of completion of CSE 102 – an algorithmic thinking and programming course. Students must also complete prerequisite courses in order to be accepted into the college. Those include:
- A Tier 1 Writing Requirement (WRA 101 or equivalent)
- STT 200, 201 or 315
- EC 201 or EC 202
A student may use a previously-taken CSE 101 to fill the requirement of CSE 102, but that exception is only in place for fall 2019, as the Broad will no offer CSE 101. If a student has to repeat CSE 101, they can use CSE 102 as that repeat.
The College will calculate a student’s prerequisite GPA using the WRA, STT and EC courses. CSE 102 won’t be used in the calculation.
These changes will not affect students already enrolled in the business college, per an email. The application cycle for the fall semester opens Sept. 10. Any interested students can find more information on the changes on the college's website.
