Michigan State has cancelled Wednesday classes in advance of dangerously low temperatures.
In a statement, MSU announced classes are suspended beginning 8 a.m. Wednesday because of inclement wind chills below -20 degrees.

The university later announced that due to deteriorating road conditions and concern for employee safety, only critical employees would report to work on Jan. 30.
While “online instruction” might still be held, faculty will not penalize students for not participating while classes are suspended, the statement reads.
All MSU HealthTeam clinics are also closed. The university as a whole will remain open.
MSU will make a decision by noon Wednesday if classes are cancelled for Thursday.
Statements posted to MSU’s website through the morning said the university was monitoring the situation, hinting at a possible cancelation.
Intense snowfall closed Michigan’s governmental offices Monday, drawing ire from students as MSU’s classes remained open. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency Monday night because of the inclement cold.
