Two more people, including an MSU student, have now been charged in connection to the October murder of another MSU student.

The original suspect, Steve Washington, 30, faces three charges including homicide in the murder of MSU student Isai Berrones in October.

Berrones was 22 years old and studying food science in his senior year at MSU.

East Lansing Police responded to a report of fighting and gunshots Oct. 12. Berrones was found wounded at an apartment in the 2500 block of Chandler and pronounced dead at the hospital.

MSU mathematics junior Ivan Keener faces two charges in connection to the murder of Berrones, including accessory after the fact to a felony.

Keener, 21, is a codefendant with Angela Kelly, who the Lansing State Journal reports is his cousin and the girlfriend of Washington.

Keener testified Dec. 13 that on the day of the incident, two females engaged him in a heated argument on a friend's porch. Keener said he called his cousins to come fight the females, then his cousin Kelly and her boyfriend Washington arrived at the scene along with another cousin.

Berrones hopped over the fence during the fight, with what looked like a knife in his hands, Keener testified, according to the Lansing State Journal.

Keener said he didn't see Washington with a gun and didn't know he had one on him. Keener, his cousins and Washington all fled the scene, leaving Berrones who was on the ground, wounded.

East Lansing District Judge Richard Ball bound the case to circuit court.
