Michigan State men's basketball climbs to No. 9 in AP poll

The Michigan State men’s basketball team climbed two spots to No. 9 in the newest AP Top 25 poll released Monday afternoon. The Spartans had a good showing at the 2018 Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational, dominating then-No. 17 UCLA 87-67 and then coming back from a 19-point deficit to top Texas 78-68, who came in at No. 17 in this week’s poll. 

No. 7 Michigan also jumped two spots in the rankings as they rattled off a 83-55 victory over Chattanooga last week. Other Big Ten teams in the top-25 are No. 14 Iowa, No. 16 Ohio State, No. 19 Purdue, No. 22 Wisconsin and No. 24 Maryland.

The Spartans will now focus their attention to the ACC/Big Ten Challenge as they are set to play at Louisville Tuesday evening. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST at the KFC Yum! Center.
