Video: 'Embrace the Rain' brings the mental health conversation to MSU

November 19, 2018
During Michigan State's Mental Health Awareness Week, the Student Health Advisory Council held its annual showcase of narratives, poetry, art and music.

Students and faculty gathered in the Erickson Hall Kiva on Wednesday for 'Embrace the Rain' — an annual showcase of narratives, poetry, art and music relating to mental health awareness.

"You don't always have to be diagnosed with a mental illness to struggle with mental health," Kelly Russell, director of marketing for the MSU Student Health Advisory Council, or SHAC, said. "We really just try to open up this event to open the conversation. To let people know that all of us here tonight, we are feeling the same things you are."

Hosted by SHAC during MSU's Mental Health Awareness Week, the event aims to help facilitate conversations about mental health and erase the stigma around seeking help.
