A marquee event many in the college basketball world annually mark on their calendars is set to continue for years to come.
The State Farm Champions Classic, which since 2011 has annually showcased blueblood programs Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and Michigan State, and is viewed as the official start to the college basketball season will continue through 2022, according to an ESPN press release.
This year's Champions Classic at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis features No. 10 Michigan State and No. 1 Kansas going head-to-head, followed by No. 2 Kentucky and No. 4 Duke.
The event will travel to Chicago’s United Center in 2020, New York’s Madison Square Garden in 2021 and return to Indianapolis’ Bankers Life Fieldhouse in 2022.
"We are excited to continue with this marquee event, as it has become a fixture on the college basketball landscape,” Pete Derzis, ESPN senior vice president of college sports programming and events, said in the press release. “The credit goes to these four outstanding programs for coming together annually to launch the season.”
