Two women have accused MSU medical resident Michael Phinn of sexual assault, according to a Lansing State Journal report.

The women reported he groped their breasts and digitally penetrated them, Michigan State University Police Department (MSUPD) Detective Sam Miller testified in 54-B District Court.

Phinn, who was arrested Oct. 8, is also accused of forcing the women to watch him masturbate and sending them emails with photos of his penis.

Phinn faces 10 charges regarding allegations of sexual assaults committed at the MSU Clinical Center, including:

  • One count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct;
  • two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct;
  • one count of assault with intent to commit sexual contact;
  • two counts of gross indecency; and
  • four counts of aggravated indecent exposure.

MSUPD announced Phinn's arrest and sent out a press release encouraging his victims and those with information about him to contact the department.

Phinn, who until the allegations surfaced was serving his post-graduate residency, retains his medical license, according to the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).

A pre-examination conference for Phinn is scheduled for Oct. 26 in the 54-B District Court.

The MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine, where Phinn was serving his residency, is the former home of ex-MSU doctor Larry Nassar. More than 400 individuals have come forward as survivors of his sexual abuse.

Nassar is serving a 60-year federal sentence on child pornography charges.

Former dean of the college William Strampel also faces his own criminal charges. Strampel is accused of one count of misconduct in office for sexually harassing and assaulting a female student, one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of willful neglect of duty as Nassar’s boss.

Strampel’s future court dates are to be determined in Ingham County court.
