Father's Day activities in the Greater Lansing Area

There is a plethora of things to do in East Lansing for Father's Day. From a few rounds of golf to catching a baseball game, here are seven things to do on Father's Day:


1. Forest Akers Golf Courses

Address: 2231 S Harrison Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823

Located on MSU's campus, Forest Akers offers the opportunity to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.

The course is offering a Father's Day lunch buffet on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Course Banquet Room. The cost is $20 per person. 


2. Lugnuts game

Address: 505 E Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912

The Lansing Lugnuts are in town all weekend facing off against the South Bend Cubs. 

First pitch on Sunday is at 1:05 p.m. from Cooley Law School Stadium. 


3. The State Room Brunch

Address: 219 S Harrison Rd, East Lansing, MI 48824

Located on the ground floor of the Kellogg Center, The State Room Brunch is another option for this Sunday. Admission for adults is $14.95 per person, while children age 6-10 are $7.95 and kids under 5 are admitted free. 


4. Kayaking down the Red Cedar River

Spanning almost 51 miles, the Red Cedar River offers eight launching points between McCormick Park in Williamston and River Street Park in Lansing. 

Families have the option to paddle the full trail or enjoy lighter endeavors such as launching at Red Cedar Roadside Park and landing at the Harris Nature Center, an estimated 1.8 mile trek.

5. Fishing, hiking, and boating at Sleepy Hollow State Park

Address: 7835 E Price Rd, Laingsburg, MI 48848

Sleepy Hollow State Park is open from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Lake Ovid offers fishing. Typical fish species available here include catfish, largemouth bass and yellow perch. 


6. Biking the Lansing River Trail

Featuring over 20 miles of paved trail in total, the Lansing River Trail offers a scenic route for biking or just walking. 

The trail offers birdwatching opportunities and routes that run through areas such as Crego Park and the Potter Park Zoo.


7. Potter Park Zoo 

Address: 1301 S Pennsylvania Ave, Lansing, MI 48912

The zoo is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday and features a wide variety of animal species including African Lions, Red Pandas, North American Bald Eagles and Black Rhinos. 

Daily admission for Ingham County residents is $6 per adult while non-residents can enter the park for $12 per person. Additional discounts exist for children under the age of 12 and senior citizens.
