MSU officials have provided more information regarding how it handled a sexual assault allegation made against former MSU basketball player and undergraduate assistant basketball coach Travis Walton and said the allegation would have been handled differently if it were made today.
After initially telling ESPN that no records proving Walton worked at MSU were available, the university has provided documents showing that Walton has held several jobs within the university, according to the news organization.
Outside the Lines reported in late January that Walton was allowed to continue work at MSU under basketball coach Tom Izzo even while facing a criminal charge for allegedly punching a female MSU student in 2010. The report also said another female student accused Walton and two other basketball players of sexually assaulting her in April of the same year.
Walton denied the sexual assault allegations made against him in the Outside the Lines report.
