"Good weekend," head coach Jake Boss Jr. said. "You know obviously it came at the right time. We said last night we had a good week of practice and thought we really made some strides to get better and you know I'm happy for our guys that they got to see some of that this weekend."

Down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, sophomore Bryce Kelley tripled to right field with no outs in the inning. Later in the inning freshman Zach Iverson would single to right as well that would bring home Kelley and ultimately tie the game up. 

In the bottom of the eighth with two outs and a man on first and third, redshirt senior Reece Eddins threw two straight wild pitches that would bring home sophomore Danny Gleaves and freshman Adam Proctor. This would be the Spartans first lead of the game and the third run scored by a wild pitch on the day.

"Really proud of them," Boss said. "You know again its a great character group of kids. They keep working hard and like I said I'm happy for them that they start to see some of the rewards of that because you kind of feel like your swimming upstream sometimes. They keep coming to practice everyday and working hard and I think we hit more balls hard this weekend then we have as well in the past."

Redshirt freshman Mason Erla took the start on the mound today pitching through five innings allowing four hits, three runs, while finishing with four strikeouts before he was replaced by redshirt senior Jake Lowery. Lowery pitched for two innings including three straight strikeouts in the top of the sixth.

Redshirt senior catcher Chad Roskelly lead the way for the Spartans hitting three for four, while bringing in a run. 

"I'm having a great time," Roskelly said. "It's great to finally be out on the field again. Had a couple of weeks where I was in the dugout and I was hurt, but it's great to finally be back out there."

The Spartans will return to action Tuesday when they will take on the University of Notre Dame. First pitch is set at 3:02 p.m. at McLane Baseball Stadium.
