YouTuber, MSU alumnus and activist Tyler Oakley is giving back to his community. Oakley announced in a tweet that he is buying out his hometown theater in Lansing for a free showing of "Love, Simon" Saturday.
Oakley in his tweet said he "would have needed" the movie when growing up as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
The tickets, which are free and first-come, first-serve, will be available at the box office on Saturday. The show starts at 2:15 p.m. and will be shown at Regal Lansing Mall Stadium 12.
The free tickets are limited to one ticket per person. The tickets are not available online and must be received at the theater. The free tickets only apply to this one-time slot and this specific theater.
"I saw this movie and I had to share it," Oakley wrote in the tweet's photo. "This is a movie for everyone. I laughed and I cried and I wished I had this growing up. It's perfect for anybody and everybody and the representation queer youth deserve. Seeing our stories on the big screen is a big deal — and I want to celebrate that especially with those in my hometown."
