Four downtown parking structures will offer free overnight parking this St. Patrick's Day weekend, as city officials hope to keep the streets free from drunk drivers.

Free parking will be available beginning at 10 p.m. March 17 and will last until 2 a.m. March 19 at the following locations:

  • Evergreen Avenue Parking Lot, 275 Evergreen Ave. (behind Peoples Church); meters only
  • Dublin Square Lot, 311 Albert Ave.
  • East Lansing City Hall’s West Lot, 415 Abbot Road; public parking spaces only, entrance on west side of Abbot Road
  • Bailey Street Parking Garage, 126 Bailey Street; public parking spaces only, entrance on east side of Bailey

A map of these locations can be viewed here.

In addition to these locations, all downtown parking is free on Sundays.

“We encourage those who are celebrating on Saint Patrick’s Day to celebrate responsibly and find a safe ride home,” Amy Schlusler-Schmitt, the city's community development and engagement manager, said in a press release.

CATA will also be offering free Entertainment Express trolley service, travelling along Michigan Avenue from East Lansing to Lansing, from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Saturday.
