Kent Cassella, associate vice president for media communications and senior public relations strategist at MSU, said he will leave the university at the end of the week.
Cassella, a retired U.S. Army officer, started working at MSU in September 2007 and previously served as director of public relations at the United States Military Academy at West Point, according to the MSU Communications and Brand Strategy website.
"I did resign from MSU and Friday is my last day," Cassella wrote via text message. "It is time for me to seek new opportunities."
MSU Communications and Brand Strategy could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.
