Emma Ann Miller, 15, and her mother, Leslie Miller, look towards Ex-MSU and USA Gymnastics Dr. Larry Nassar during Emma's statement on the fifth day of Nassar's sentencing on Jan. 22, 2018 at the Ingham County Circuit Court in Lansing. "Just remember Larry, it's never too late to do the right thing," Emma Ann said.

Emma Ann Miller, a 15-year-old survivor of ex-MSU and USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar’s abuse, expressed in her victim impact statement her mother is still being billed for appointments in which she was sexually abused by Nassar.

In her statement, Emma Ann said her mother, Leslie Miller, is still receiving bills from MSU Sports Medicine for her appointments with Nassar, even after everything that happened to her.

“MSU SportsMEDICINE charged me for those appointments. My mom is still getting billed for appointments where I was sexually assaulted,” she said to the court.

MSU SportsMEDICINE directed questions to MSU spokesperson Jason Cody.

"I of course do not have access to patient records, billing, or otherwise," Cody said via email. "But this has been passed on to the people who handle that to address, and I can tell you that patients of former MSU physician Larry Nassar will not be billed."

Andrew Abood, Emma Ann's attorney, said "we are very proud of her" for standing up and telling her story Monday.

"She gave a statement under tremendous anguish and yet delivered an compelling plea that was both heart breaking and inspiring," Abood said via email. "We stand by the facts asserted in the statement. To the extent that some of requested statements regarding the billing, those statements are being obtained."

Emma Ann was still going to Nassar's appointments for her back pain up until about a week before he was fired by MSU.

“I, too, was sexually assaulted by Larry Nassar, multiple times at multiple appointments,” she said. “My last ‘treatment’ was in August 2016. A week later, he was let go by MSU.”

While addressing Nassar, Emma Ann said there were many instances in which MSU, USA Gymnastics or Twistars Gymnastics Club could have and should have intervened.

“There’s one thing you could do to help with the forgiveness,” Emma Ann said to Nassar. “Instead of just sitting there acting weak and feeble, you could start writing down each and every time MSU, Twistars and USAG could have stopped you.”

She asked Nassar to admit he had people who helped him stay employed for decades and people who helped him to continue sexually abusing women and girls for years.

“See, I’m familiar with what Mark Twain said about rumors: that a rumor travels halfway around the world,” Emma Ann said to Nassar. “If you aren’t familiar with Twain, trust me, you’ll have time to look it up, so don’t tell us that you never got that phone call from (Kathie) Klages.”
