January 16, 2018

Despite a dreary snowy day, Michiganians across the state were met with a surprise—a split-second flash of light. It illuminated the night sky, no less.

Multiple sources reported a meteor was seen over Ingham County, according to a text sent by the Ingham County Emergency Management Update.

The text also mentioned an explosion-like noise. However, there is no indication of any damage on the ground.

The meteor wasn't witnessed just in the immediate Ingham County area. Social media flooded with reported sightings from Grand Rapids to the Detroit area.

While many people called 911 after the sudden happenings, there is no need, according to the Ingham County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management in a Facebook post.
