Saturday served as the final home for seven Spartan seniors as they were honored in the post-game ceremony. (Autumn Bailey, Alyssa Garvelink, Brooke Kranda, Rachel Minarick, Abby Monson, Holly Toliver, and Megan Tompkins) 

“It was a very special night and there are a lot of memories that go into the last four or five years of these girls lives,” head coach Cathy George said.” They have been incredible for this program by teaching other players and helping grow this program."

The Spartans were led by redshirt senior outside hitter Autumn Bailey with a total of 11 kills, hitting .409, while redshirt senior Brooke Kranda finished with 10 kills, hitting .400. 

Senior Alyssa Garvelink recorded her 1,000th kill and she is just the 23rd Spartan to achieve this accomplishment.

“It’s crazy to achieve an accomplishment like that and I’m just happy I get to leave my footprint here and would not have been able to do that without my teammates beside me every step of the way,” Garvelink said. 

MSU’s current record against Indiana now moves up to 50-30. 

This team this season is very driven to being great on the way they interact and how they are going to go about the season together. They made a commitment to work hard and to remember what the ultimate goal was set at the beginning of the season, according to George.

The Spartans travel to Purdue next Friday at 7 p.m., where it will be their second to last game of the season.

“We have an extremely hot Purdue team coming up and they have been playing out of their minds,” George said. “It is their last weekend for their seniors and we have a lot in front of us, but we’re going to get back to work Monday to make ourselves stronger and ready for them.”
