—For one last time as Spartan athletes, Allyssah Fitterer of MSU volleyball and Joe Cox of MSU hockey have been recognized for their stellar senior seasons.
The Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners "have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior," according to a press release from MSU Athletics.
After never missing a game throughout his career, Cox notched 69 points throughout his time as a Spartan. At the end-of-the-year banquet the Chelsea, Michigan native collected a team-high four awards as he skated the ice wearing the captain "C" patch all year long.
Fitterer earned the Extra Mile Award at the MSU volleyball team's annual banquet. The Georgetown, Ontario native was a three-time Honorable Mention AVCA All-North Region selection after wrapping up her Spartan career. She led the Spartans with a .361 hitting percentage her senior season, aiding MSU to one of its best seasons in program history.
During the selection process, one member of each varsity sports team was chosen as a Sportsmanship Award honoree. From there, the two Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners were selected by their respective institutions.
