USA Gymnastics cancels Karolyi Ranch purchase | NBC Sports | May 17, 2017

USA Gymnastics will no longer purchase the Karolyi Ranch, the Huntsville, Texas-based training facility which serves as the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center.

In a statement May 16, the organization's Board of Directors announced they would not proceed with the ranch purchase "for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to unexpected financial expenditures associated with the purchase."

USA Gymnastics agreed to purchase the property last July, but since the announcement former gymnasts have come forward alleging ex-MSU doctor Larry Nassar sexually abused them at the ranch.

According to NBC Sports, one related lawsuits names the ranch's owners and alleges they knew about assaults but did not do anything in response.

Second gag order in Nassar case will stay in place, judge rules | The State News | May 17, 2017

More than 80 plaintiffs requested a reconsideration of the second gag order issued by Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina. Their motion was denied by United States District Judge Janet T. Neff on May 15.

After the denial, the case is now closed.

The second gag order was issued by Aquilina last month. It was created to clarify and annul Aquilina's previous gag order, which barred accusers and their lawyers from talking about material not already in the court record.

After the first gag order was issued, more than 80 plaintiffs and their attorneys sued Aquilina, stating it deprived plaintiffs of their constitutional rights and silences political speech.

According to court documents filed May 16, Neff denied the plaintiffs' motion, meaning the second gag order will stay in effect.
