GoombaS Pizza has closed indefinitely due to a family emergency, owner Gail Sutton confirmed Friday.

Located on the corner of West Grand River Avenue and Delta Street, GoombaS Pizza has been a local stop for students looking to get their late-night food fix for about three decades, according to the restaurant's Facebook page. Whether it was pizza or GoombaS’ famous pokee stix, there was always something delicious on the menu.

Sutton declined to comment further and said more information would become available at a later time.

Whether or not GoombaS will reopen is unknown. There is a “for lease” sign planted in front of the store.

The potential closure of GoombaS comes at a time of relatively high business turnover in East Lansing. Shops such as Sweet Lorraine’s Fabulous Mac n’ Cheez, Cosi and Velvet A Candy Store have closed their doors over the past year.
