MSU baseball signed three more recruits to its 2017-18 roster, head coach Jake Boss Jr. announced Monday.

The three newest Spartans are Scott Combs and Evan Flohr of Northville, Mich., and Nic Lacayo of Colorado Springs, Col.

Combs, a catcher, is a four-year letterwinner at Divine Child High School and is ranked the No. 19 catcher and No. 109 overall player in Michigan, according to Prep Baseball report.

“Scott has gotten better each time we’ve seen him over the past year and a half, and we expect him to continue that development in our program,” Graham Sikes, recruiting coordinator and assistant baseball coach, said to MSU Athletic Communications.

Flohr, a lefthanded pitcher, is currently playing in his second season at Cypress College in Cypress, Calif. In his 13 appearances this season, he’s earned two saves, struck out 47 and started in five outings. Flohr averages 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings.

MSU pitching coach Skylar Meade said the staff has been impressed with how quickly Flohr has advanced his velocity.

“Adding a left hander with a great breaking ball was a goal for our staff, and there wasn’t a better one on the market than Evan,” Meade said to Athletic Communications.

Lacayo, who is also a catcher, is currently playing in his second season at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Ariz. He has thrown out 14 runners caught stealing in 42 games.

Lacayo is currently playing in Arizona Junior College Conference, which also helped produce former spartan Jordan Zimmerman.

"We are excited to add these three young men to our program next fall. Off the field, each of these three are good students, excellent young men, and have a passion for Michigan State University,” Boss said to Athletic Communications. “On the field, they provide depth for us up the middle, which is key to a strong baseball team.”

These three signings will join six other newcomers who signed with the Spartans in the fall.
