In the latest report by USA Today Sports, Louisville’s Rick Pitino takes the top spot and MSU men’s basketball head coach Tom Izzo ranks No. 5 among coaches in this year’s NCAA Tournament by salary.
Pitino earned $7,769,200, about $300,000 more than second place, Kentucky’s John CaIipari. The top five is rounded out by Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, Kansas’ Bill Self and Izzo.
The MSU head coach also led the Big Ten with a total pay of $4,251,751.
The bottom five teams with recorded salaries this NCAA Tournament are North Dakota’s Brian Jones, $109,273, New Orleans’ Mark Slessinger, $120,000, Jacksonville State’s Ray Harper, $175,000, Northern Kentucky’s John Brannen, $190,000 and Mount St. Mary’s Jamion Christian, $199,447.
