The Big Ten conference announced Wednesday 62 MSU student-athletes were named Academic All-Big Ten honorees for the 2017 winter sports season.
To be eligible for the honor, each student-athlete must earn a varsity letter, be in at least their second academic year at a Big Ten university and obtain a grade-point average, or GPA, of 3.0 or higher.

MSU swimming and diving sophomores Gabe Whitaker, Courtney Aycock and Heidi Surdyk were three of 12 conference student-athletes who earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.
