2018 Michigan Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer’s visit to MSU is now set for the Feb. 27 MSU College Democrats meeting. The originally scheduled appearance on Jan. 16 was canceled because of a Martin Luther King Jr. Day related scheduling conflict.
This will be Whitmer’s second campus visit so far in her campaign, having visited University of Michigan Feb. 2. The meeting will take place from 7-8 p.m. at 335A Case Hall.
“We’re excited to be able to host people like Gretchen, and we hope that we can provide a platform for them to come out and meet them, and get to know the candidates,” MSU College Democrats President Daniel Eggerding said.
Since Whitmer’s campaign announcement, several others including two opposing Democrats have filed their candidacy to replace term-limited Gov. Rick Snyder. Eggerding, also Whitmer’s director of youth and student engagement, said MSU College Democrats will also invite any Democratic candidate who throws their hat in the race.
“We want to make sure college students and the youth have a large say in this election, just like last election,” Eggerding said.
