Missing student, David Quang Pham, found in Sweden

January 12, 2017

David Quang Pham, an astrophysics junior who has been missing since Dec. 19 has been found safe — in Sweden.

"We treated it as a missing person because the family didn’t know where he was at the time, and later on we discovered that he just wanted to get away and take a vacation to Sweden," Detective Sgt. for Wyoming, Mich. police Dan Mahoney said. "I don’t really have any other answers. It is odd and I don’t obviously know any more at this point."

No exact date was given for when Pham was found but Mahoney believes "it was around the third of January."

According to WoodTV.com, Pham's family told police that he had been know to disappear for short amounts of time but never extended periods.

Pham is no longer considered missing, Mahoney said.
