The City of East Lansing will host a brief Veterans Days program on Nov. 10 to honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces, according to a press release from the City of East Lansing.

The program begins at 8:30 a.m. and will take place in front of the East Lansing Hannah Community Center at 819 Abbot Road.

The program includes a military flag-raising ceremony and bagpipe performance.

The ceremony falls on the 241st anniversary of the United States Marine Corps' founding, so a moment of silence will be observed for U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Second Lieutant Sherrod E. Skinner Jr., an East Lansingite who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery during his Korean War service.

Area veterans and all other community members are encouraged and invited to attend this program. There will be refreshments after the ceremony.
