MSU No. 11 in preseason Coaches Poll

Coming off a Big Ten championship, a berth in the College Football Playoff and a 12-2 record last season, MSU football is ranked No. 11 in the country in the preseason USA Today Amway Coaches Poll released Wednesday.

Topping the first five slots of the coaches poll is reigning national champion, Alabama, followed by national runner-up Clemson, College Football Playoff participant Oklahoma, Florida State and Ohio State.

MSU will face three preseason Top 25 opponents this season including No. 9 Notre Dame (Sept. 17 at Notre Dame), No. 8 Michigan (Oct. 29 at home) and No. 5 Ohio State (Nov. 9 at home).

Besides U-M, MSU and Ohio State, Iowa is the only other Big Ten team included in the preseason poll, checking in at No. 15.
