Protests have already begun with more groups lined up to try jockey for their voices to be heard throughout the week. Cleveland has heavily outfitted law enforcement officials in response to general concerns about safety, but many officers patrolling the downtown area were dressed in normal police garb.
Citizens are allowed to carry guns –– not explicitly banned in the state of Ohio –– throughout the city and within the RNC's event zones. The only zone not permitting the carrying of firearms is Quicken Loans Arena, where the main convention events will take place.
