East Lansing police detain suspect for vehicle theft near Cedar Village

East Lansing police are reporting an incident of vehicle theft which occurred in the Cedar Village area at about 10:45 p.m. Monday, according to an alert. 

The male suspect reportedly stole a vehicle near Cedar Village in East Lansing and was then pursued by police on Coolidge Road. 

The short pursuit resulted in a crash near Coolidge and State Road, where the suspect fled from police. 

The suspect was then arrested and detained around 11 p.m. by East Lansing police, according to a follow-up alert.

East Lansing police could not be reached for further comment.
