ASMSU completes elections for 53rd Session

Four vice presidents were elected to the Associated Students of Michigan State University's 53rd Session by its general assembly. The office of the president for the 2016-17 term is now complete.

ASMSU President-elect and international relations sophomore Lorenzo Santavicca and Vice President-elect for Finance and Operations and accounting junior Jason Barnett, both elected Wednesday, were joined by neuroscience junior Tyler Orlando, elected vice president for academic affairs, social relations and policy junior Alex Noffsinger, elected vice president for governmental affairs, political science junior Jason Porter, re-elected vice president for internal administration and finance sophomore Lauren Fish, elected vice president for student allocations. Serving as chief of staff will be current vice president for student allocations and agricultural business junior Samuel Terzich.

“I think elections went really well, I give a huge congratulations to everyone that won their election tonight,” outgoing president and public policy senior Domonique Clemons said. "I am very excited for the work they are going to accomplish this upcoming year. I am encouraged that they are going to address those big issues that we have been working on and continue to push and fight for students.”

The new office of the president will assume positions May 14 to begin the summer term.

“I am really excited, I am really thankful for the candidates that chose to be a part of the elections tonight,” Santavicca said. “I think we are going to accomplish great things this next year with the talent that is a part of the executive leadership of the organization.”
