Gov. Rick Snyder appoints Trustee Joel Ferguson to Flint Receivership Transition Advisory Board

February 17, 2016

Gov. Rick Snyder has appointed MSU Trustee Joel Ferguson to the Flint Receivership Transition Advisory Board, according to a press release.

The advisory board, first named in April 2015, was created to monitor the affairs of the local government. Flint switched back to local power, or home rule order, in April 2015.

The board held its first meeting in June 2015 but has since started to meet more after the details of the Flint water crisis came to light. The group has final say on the city's resolutions and decisions after the exit of the emergency manager.

Ferguson is a chairman for the MSU Board of Trustees. Ferguson will replace a program officer with the Skillman Foundation and Flint native David McGhee.

Ferguson was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1986 and has since been re-elected three times. Ferguson graduated from MSU in 1965.
