Sydney Gort, who was charged with two counts of making terrorist threats against the university had one of two counts dismissed this morning, according to the Lansing State Journal.
Prosecutors dismissed the count that related to an April incident because it needed handwriting analysis to meet the burden of proof for a preliminary hearing.
After the count was dismissed, Gort waived her preliminary hearing on the remaining count.
She faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Gort was charged in November with two counts of making a terrorist threat, one for a November threat and one for the threat made in April. Gort reported both threats to police, which led officers to question her and get a confession for the November threat.
The November threat was written on a bathroom stall inside the School of Packaging building. The threat read, "T-M-R-W, as ordered, we will be administering the first act of terrorism on this campus, in this building as chosen by random, striking every third girl seen. We have no choice in this matter #prayforMSU."
Gort told investigators stress factored into her decision, which she said was a lapse of judgement, and that she had no intention of harming anyone.
The April threat was also written in a bathroom in the School of Packaging building, according to court records.
