On Sunday, offensive lineman and former Purdue commit Luke Campbell verbally committed to join MSU in the spring of 2016. Campbell, who hails from Lewis Center, Ohio, is now the Spartans 20th commitment in this recruiting season, and would be the third offensive tackle commit for head coach Mark Dantonio’s class.
Campbell reopened his recruitment and was offered by the Spartans on January 17. He then took an official visit to the campus on January 22, culminating in a commitment to wear green and white next season.
Campbell stands at 6’4 and weighs 275 pounds. He played at Olentangy High School and was rated the 61st best player in the state of Ohio by espn.com. Recruiting sites vary on Campbell’s star rating, as it flip flops between three and four stars. But Campbell's versatility should be his real grade, because he can play both guard and tackle.
Regardless, the rising Campbell and his commitment gives Dantonio an even higher recruiting class rating, and the addition of another lineman should help patch up the gaps left by senior and early draft entries on the offensive line.
