As the MSU Spartans take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Cotton Bowl, the bar atmosphere in East Lansing is alive with the hopes of many local fans. Pouring in to cheer on their hometown players, patrons have congregated in many of the local food and drink establishments in the college town.
Several locations, such as Buffalo Wild Wings, HopCat and Crunchy’s Burgers and Beer, reported being packed or near full capacity with spectators at the beginning of halftime.
“Right now it’s pretty electric,” an employee at Crunchy’s said. “Everyone is fixated on the game.”
An employee at The Peanut Barrel said the bar was at about half capacity and patronage fluctuated around halftime.
“We filled up right before the game started,” a HopCat employee said. “We have had quite a few people leave (around halftime) though.”
“Right now we are pretty packed,” an employee at Buffalo Wild Wings said. “We have a few tables open, though.”
