Places to be in Indianapolis for the Big Ten championship

Numerous Spartan fans will be making the trek to Indianapolis for Saturday’s Big Ten championship, and the game pitting No. 4 Iowa and No. 5 MSU is bound to be great, with the winner being as close to a lock for the College Football Playoff as they could.

As for the fans getting to Indianapolis Friday or early Saturday, multiple events are taking place to enjoy before the game. With tickets being too expensive for some fans, viewing parties and tailgate happenings are bound to be flooded with green and white, even during the game. This guide will help the common fan find a great location to hang out before or during the game with fellow Spartans.

Slippery Noodle Inn

A Spartan meetup is happening at the Slippery Noodle Inn, Indiana’s oldest, continually operated bar, at 5 p.m. Friday in Indianapolis. Spartans even have long sleeve t-shirts on sale available for purchase, which can be picked up by fans at the Slippery Noodle.

Saturday, the Slippery Noodle will be hosting a viewing party for the MSU basketball game against Binghamton, which tips off at noon. There will be a parking lot party at noon, and the Slippery Noodle will be opening its doors early at 10 a.m. for fans.

Georgia Street

Georgia Street, located directly east of the Indiana Convention Center, will serve home to the Meijer Tail Greater Party from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. The party has a plethora of activities, including everything from food trucks and beverage gardens to ice sculpting.

Additionally, a Major League Eating contest, with famous hot dog gobbler Joey Chestnut, will take place at 3 p.m. as Chestnut and other professional eaters try to tackle St. Elmo’s shrimp cocktail. Live bands and well-known performer DJ Yoshi will provide live entertainment throughout the event.

Taps and Touchdowns Beer Tasting Event

The Taps and Touchdowns Beer Tasting Event is returning for its second year, and features more than 20 different breweries as well as four different restaurants. The event takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Pan Am Pavilion in downtown Indianapolis.

Hosted by the Indiana Sports Corp, the entry fee of will provide customers with a tasting glass for any available beer and unlimited food. Tickets can be purchased on site for $35.

Big Ten Football Championship Fan Fest

The largest event of them all is a two-day transformation of the Indiana Convention Center into the Big Ten Football Championship Fan Fest. The festival takes place from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and again from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The Indiana Convention Center, which has more than 200,000 square feet of space, will be littered with interactive sports games, giveaways, school bands and live entertainment. Even MSU’s mascot Sparty will be in attendance. Tickets are only $8 for adults and $4 for kids. Youth clinics will be held all day Saturday at the festival, and guest appearances fill the whole day.

All of these locations plan on having a large presence of MSU fans, and the events such as the Big Ten Football Championship Fan Fest and activities on Georgia Street are suitable for people of all ages.
