ELPD reports low crime for Halloween
East Lansing police are reporting small crime numbers for Halloween on Saturday, according to the East Lansing Police Department's Weekend report.
With only eight arrests and 17 appearance citations, the numbers are unusually low for a party day such as Halloween.
Six minor in possessions, six disorderly conduct violations and seven open intoxicants — if arrests and appearance citations are counted as one — made Saturday a slow day, even when compared to MSU's game against Indiana, which saw the lowest incidents of the season, at least for MSU police.
On that day, ELPD reported 16 minor in possessions, seven disorderly conduct violation and 35 open intoxicants.
For MSU police, Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said though she didn't have the exact numbers for incidents, on Halloween most activity is concentrated north of Grand River Avenue and MSU's campus was usually quiet, even more so because of the rain.
"Usually we don't have a lot of problems reference Halloween because most of the Halloween activity does take place in the city of East Lansing," McGlothian-Taylor said.
